The previous owner of our CD25 must of have much more time than I all the teak was varnished. The boat looked sharp last year. Its time for a redo of the teak trim. I love the look of varnish but don't have the time. What are my options on some of the newer finishes out there. I would like something that allows the natural look, not orange, without the work of varnish. I'm open to suggestions. Thanks.

Re: Teak Finish
Search thru the current and archives (last year), for the "discussions" on this subject. Search for the products, Cetol, Armanda(?), Honey Teak, etc. There were a great deal, last year at this time (wonder why!?!?!). In the end, you are going to have to decide on the look you want, the durability of the look, the money you put in, the work you put in and the amount of sailing you want to do.
Re: Teak Finish
For the last three boats I have used products from SavCote out of Lakewood,New Jersey.
Their varnish is the best I have ever used, and have it on a Mirror Dinghy that I built in l972 (24304), but their Teak Topcoat is the best finish ever for teak. It is a plastic base, and if your teak is in good condition, just paint it on. I probably put a total of an hour on my teak on my CD 28 per year, and it is the best looking boat on the dock!!
Costs around $30.00 a quart delivered-and a quart will last you about two years. If interested in their products, call 1-888-274-2474. If not at home leave a message, Bill will get back to you.
I actually put a coat on just before a rain storm! I came back after 24 hours of rain expecting to see the worst. Because it sets up in 20 minutes, the darn stuff looked like it was there for years!!

Re: Teak Finish
Tom,
I posted a similar request about a month ago and received lots of great tips. After many hours staring at the marine supply shelves of products I did go with Armada. It gave a dark natural honey color that looks great. They say not to sand it between coats so be sure that it is as smooth as a babys backside and well cleaned of all dust.
Best of luck in your finishing !
