December 28, 2020 Rappahannock River

Post by ghockaday »

Oh the joy of a simple boat, electric motor, composting head and no onboard water system. We had a fantastic day on the river. 6.2 knots on a reach, cold cold and 3.5 down wind to warm up. 55 degrees here today. The pretty lady is my mate of almost 40 years. Dennis

Good for you !
I went down to my Typhoon on the York River, but the wind was howling so I just puttered around.

Thank you, we are fortunate to be able to sail the whole year. You just need the right warm weather gear and some lucky days, 50 and above are perfect. We are a little more cautious, keep life vest on and go on deck only when necessary. Dennis

Thank you Jim, we don't get many days like this but they are my favorite. Especially vs 90, flies and no wind. Dennis

On the York River 12/30/2020. Beautiful day !!!

For some reason, the photo wouldn't load. Take my word for it. Was a great day.

After you choose your picture and add it there is a little box that says "Place Inline" click it, that it is the only way I can add them. Dennis

Sorry actual date was 3 Jan 2021. 28th was gusting to 35 knots and both the non sailing couple and mu wife refused to go out. Would have been a great sail but one must choose ones battles.

The first photos show myself and the “admiral” of 37 years. Second set shows brother on law and significant other.

There was actually a cold snap with temp dropping into the 60s at night. Prior week’s weather as notes had some signifiant winds which may have contributed to the loss of the power boat with an estimated 20 personnel.
