Post Your Best Sailing Songs ...

Can’t go sailing ? Singing about it might help ...

Of course there’s Christopher Cross ...

I like especially:

“Christian Island” Gordon Lightfoot

Edit: I went and found Christian Island which is at the southeast end of Georgian Bay, Lake Huron. Georgian Bay is the “papoose”” of Lake Huron.

Love Stan Rogers and all the sea shanties. Here are some more contemporary stylings from my onboard playlist:

Captain Jim's Drunken Dream: https://youtu.be/Dr9zXYWR3bU

This one's about a power fishing boat, but references some of my favorite waters: https://youtu.be/v-ikaYcG9UU

Fred, Christian Island was previously named Charity Island. Next to it, to the east, are two other islands, Hope Island, and Beckwith Island. Beckwith used to be known as Faith Island. Interesting story here: https://www.lighthousefriends.com/light.asp?ID=1528

Some of the songs already listed came to mind as I clicked on the thread title, but here are a few others to add to the list:

Schooner Fare, "Day of the Clipper" https://youtu.be/NWF7Jaje-3g

Schooner Fare, "Shoals of Herring" https://youtu.be/tTb_Tdo9jzI

Schooner Fare, "Drunken Sailor" https://youtu.be/H76dHg_EvjQ

An interesting rendition of "South Australia", https://youtu.be/pmsbo31Z3Os
