It may be cold and rainey, but it's still better to be in the water!!!

Being the owner of a northern marina that requires installing and then removing the docks every spring and fall, I get a chance to say when boats go in. Last year, I cheated and put the Ladybug II in the water, long before anyone else could. A close friend and retired Presbyterian minister sent me this poem he wrote:

Thoughts on putting the boat in the water

Frued states that the male ego is fed by adrenalin
Displayed in those guys who always have to win;
But in a broader context
He related it to sex
And always wanting to be 'The First One In!'

We Presbyterians in the heritage of Calvin
Find this desire to be 'The First One In'
Is not so much
Competition as such
But rather a definition of Original Sin!

This year I will still probably be 'The First One In', but maybe by only a few days and not weeks.
Let's hope we all have a good year sailing.
