My new Cape Dory

Post by David Rattray »

Let me introduce myself! I am the proud new owner of a CD28 that may be familiar to some here -- Stan Wheatly's former Nonsly. I am in the process of sailing it to its new home on Long Island, N.Y., after about a month's work at Marblehead Trading Co.

The boat had been out of the water since 2013 and had the usual chainplate trouble and the headstay was missing, but other than that, it's in fine shape and so far it's been a blast to single-hand via Cohasset, Plymouth, the Cape Cod Canal at sunset, Pocasset, Mattapoisett, and, now, South Dartmouth, where I will resume the trip with a friend on Thursday. I couldn't be more pleased. Also, I have a name in mind, but I am not quite sure. Working on it.

Congratulations! You've got a fine boat there. I live in Dartmouth, so I'm probably less than a mile or so from where you are
now. The rest of your trip shouldn't take too long. You could make Block Island in a day and then maybe another day to your
destination. Good luck and fair winds - Jean

It's a great feeling to be sailing your new boat home. Take as much time as you can on your way home and enjoy it as a mini cruise if you can.

Have fun, Steve.

Hey David, funny to run into you here...you'll have to take me for a sail some day. Pretty boat!
