Has anyone tried Cetol light?

Has anyone tried Cetol light?
We're redoing our teak, and I was thinking Cetol light might look a little better than the regular. Any comments?

It's milky looking. Has a real white tint to it, I didn't like the look.Russell wrote: We're redoing our teak, and I was thinking Cetol light might look a little better than the regular. Any comments?

Just ordered some from West Marine. Hope to try next weekend. P.S.Russell wrote: We're redoing our teak, and I was thinking Cetol light might look a little better than the regular. Any comments?
Any boat I purchase in the future will have to be discounted by
$1.00 for every square inch of exterior varnished teak!

Used it last season
Russell,
I did use Cetol light last season and am very happy with it. I know I know many out there will not have it .... I spent my childhood varnishing wooden boats....so the fantasy is gone. I did not go into this blind.
I found that the LIGHT did not have the orange look, in fact it matches some of the left over varnish almost exactly. I did as reccomended 3 coats, now after a year it find a few spots that will have to be touched up, but still looks great.

Re: Has anyone tried Cetol light?
Don't do it. It has a very distinct milky look, and even with 3 coats of Sikkens gloss as a top coat, it looks thick - nothing like a deep varnish look. Depending on the size of your boat ie, amount of wood, I'd just bite the bullet and continue with varnish. I was very, very unhappy with the finished product.

Re: Has anyone tried Cetol light?
I posted a longer comment last summer, search for it; to summarize: Sikkens didn't remove the orange dye, they added opaque filler to mask it. It makes a cloudy finish which will get worse as you topcoat it. Not recommended. If you don't like the orange of regular Cetol, try Armada.
