I spy...Aerides

Post by wikakaru »

I spy with my little eye...the Cape Dory 30 Aerides sailing out of Fox Islands Thorofare into East Penobscot Bay on Saturday, September 12, 2020. Too bad she only had her yankee set when she sailed by. By the time she raised her mainsail we were a long way apart.

Smooth sailing,

Nice hobby you have. Maybe one day you can snap our picture. Do you ever go South? Dennis

Sorry, we do go south, but not by boat any more. We've done 7 round trips up and down the east coast by boat and finally decided that it didn't make sense for us. Our favorite place to sail is Maine, and traveling north and south by boat took 2-3 months each way, which only allowed us to sail 2 months each summer in Maine. Now we have a boat in Florida and a boat in Maine and drive back and forth between the two. We get a good 5 months sailing in Maine, and 6-7 months sailing in Florida each year. The drive only takes a week. Plus it's a lot easier: no boat goes to windward nearly as well as a car does!

I guess you will have to come to Maine or Florida to get your photo taken!

Smooth sailing,

Jim
