How do you lap a seacock?
I bought some lapping compound. I found two grades, coarse and fine. I have one of each. The tubes are small, so I bought two, never having done this before. I am unsure of what to do. Do I put on a small amount and reinstall the seacock and work it back and forth, then I am done? There are no directions on the tube. This is to attempt to repair a seacock that weeps slightly.

That is how you do it. You should only need the fine grade. Be sure to keep rotating the part all the way (360 deg.). Check to see if the compound is water soluable. If so, clean the parts with water to remove ALL of the grit. Grease and reassymble. Cleaning the grit from the parts is just as important as lapping the parts. Also, inspect the parts for pitting. If pitting is bad, the parts may need to be replaced.
Good luck (or should I say GOOD SKILLS).
