Table ideas...

Don't forget to snap some photos while you work on that boat project, then share them here.

Table ideas...

Post by s2sailorlis »

My ‘84 CD 22 originally was equipped with small, fold down tables at the front of each berth adjacent the sink and counter. See 2nd pix.

Unfortunately...the PO removed them...why I have no idea...

I’d like to fabricate new tables. My approach would be to use piano hinges to attach the new table, and some form of locking mechanism so they’re not banging around under sail...

Thoughts on material to make the table? A shame as I prefer the laminated surface that was OEM...

A competent woodworker could match them for you from seeing what you have and the pictures. They sell those teak rounded corners already made. The hardest part would be matching the laminate. White couldn't be too hard to get close enough, Steve.

My 2 cents: I've never done it, but my understanding is that laminate isn't that hard to work with. If you can build the table tops, you can put the laminate on too.

Having worked with a lot of laminate in the past, what you say is partially true. There are definitely some tricky parts to using laminate. Those curved corners will provide some challenge, Steve.
