The sea trial went very well on Saturday. I have a few pics but not on my camera. I'll post them later. Needless to say smiles all around.

The wind was blowing up the Neuse at 15-20. Nice size rollers coming up the river. Perfect conditions to test her but not stress us too much as new crew on the boat. She did everything I expected, to include coming off the bottom in reverse :) (Whitaker Ck is very tricky - Its easy to run aground in certain parts of the channel, even with good intel from those that know the area).

Bon voyage Nautica, pka Parfait

Post by mashenden »

Nautica leaving Oriental for places north. Its a hard place to leave. We had a "boatload" of fun in the sailing capitol of NC!!

Next stops are probably; Bellhaven, Alligator River, Eliz City, ICW-Dismal Swamp, and Norfolk. Sure wish I could have found the time off, but I'm still proud, happy and confident in my choice of Captain and Co-captain.

~~~ Bon voyage and best of luck, Beau and Mariah ~~~/)~~~
It's a lot easier to find my boat's name on clothes :)
All smiles on her maiden relaunch voyage...
Many good things have happened on Nautica over the past 7 years. She has served me very well. While trips have not been as frequent as I would have liked, the ones taken I will cherish for life.
Some upgrades made along the way include new traveler ends by Garhauer, a DC fridge by Engel, a SmartGauge by Balmar (best gauge ever!!!), a teak boarding ladder, and bronze dorade vents (aka boat boobies).
But the main thing that never got rebuilt was the galley cabinetry... that is until now. Fast forward 7 years and it is mostly done, with teak trim, cedar bottoms, dovetail drawer joints, and the original drawer fronts and hardware. It deviated from the original design because I wanted to incorporate a M/W and had space left over for a 4 bottle wine storage area. All things considered, I really like how its coming together.
Stay tuned for the new look, hopefully weeks away rather than 7 years this time :)
Unfortunately posting pictures has again become a hassle. Apparently PhotoBucket went rouge because all of the pics I had there are no longer showing properly, and when I go into PhotoBucket to see why, it quickly becomes apparent that they are holding them hostage trying to upsell me away from their free service.
When time permits, I'll be trying to use my own server to see if that works.
It's a shame the forum doesn't have storage space for photos, because when this happens, our "library" becomes less useful :(
Actually, this forum does have storage. Just click on the "Browse" button, select the image from your computer and then click the "Add the file" button. Once the image has been uploaded, you can then click on "Place inline" to position the image.
How did I miss the post a picture feature?? It works great!!
Is there a limit to the amount of storage one can use? I'm thinking I should go back and save most of my previously posted pics to the forum's storage so that they do not get lost.
It's nice to see that you have the number one boating accessory so close to your project :D We can't usually even approach our boat without Wasp and Hornet Killer in hand :?
'specially this time of year. If they paid toward the maintenance and/or slip fees, Id be more tolerant, but no...
