Attaching stuff to the headliner

Post by TheLastPirate »

How do you guys attach rod holders, net baskets, etc to the ceiling in the cabin? I have a 1975 CD28, I assume the headliner is similar with most of them. I don't know if I should go just into the headliner with some ss screws, or thru the headliner into the bottom skin.
Thanks

I have a 33, the headliner is pretty substantial, maybe 3/16-1/4 in. I would have no problem putting hangers into the liner. I would drill a hole, and put a dab of epoxy on the threads, then drive the screw.
For heavier stuff, I would cut out the liner and epoxy and screw a block into the deck sandwich, without going thru to the exterior. And I would wet those screws with epoxy too. Others may have different ideas.
