Cabin fever is setting in
I want to be here. I’ve been prepping Orion since the day she was hauled out last fall.....but it looks as though nature has conspired against me this season. Sailing internationally would be very dicey at this point.

Re: Cabin fever is setting in
I keep watching Bermuda for infection and travel restrictions. So far so good.
I got a scare, yesterday when Canada put restrictions on travel but is still allowing US citizens to enter. Maritime Canada may well be one of the safest places in the world right now. It is pretty easy to stay away from large gatherings.
This might be your year to brave the cooler temperatures and head north, Steve.

Been thinking the same way Jim. I am looking to get launched NLT end of the summer. Can’t wait to get back out there.Jim Walsh wrote:I want to be here. Steve L: Concur. Would love to sail in the Maritimes.

Latest update has, non essential, travel shut down between the USA and Canada. As the kids would say; this isn't fair.
I suppose, spending another year, cruising the Maine coast wouldn't be all that bad, Steve.

The Bermuda government has “issued a self quarantine mandate for all arriving guests, for 14 days from arrival”.
Cruising home waters is in my immediate future. Thankfully New England offers endless opportunities. I can easily live on oysters and lobster for ONE season. I will definitely miss wahoo....in all it’s pleasing forms.

The first two corona virus cases have been confirmed in Bermuda. The individuals arrived on island three days before the tests were confirmed and both were among the general population prior to showing symptoms. Bermuda has a 90 bed hospital and a 60,000+ population.

We were thinking that the wilds of Northern British Columbia would be the perfect self isolation for the summer, but our boat is in BC, and we are now in Oregon. Don’t know if we will even get to the boat!

We're in the final stages of prepping the boat for launching and we were just a couples months away from a cruise around the DelMarVa. All of that is now on hold and even launching the boat is unlikely any time soon as we're anticipating a shelter in place order later today. Of course I want everyone to be safe and I do think shutting everything down is the best option to accomplish that but...I really want to go sailing!! I pulled the winches and the teak ceilings from the v-berth to work on while we're locked down. Wanted to get stuff to build our dinghy but that doesn't seem possible at this point.
