1980 Cape Dory Cutter 30' with new engine

Post by mthunberg »

Leona Pearl is up for sale. ($17,000) She was a great family boat and we have many memories aboard her. With the kids grown and occupied with other pursuits, she sat mostly idle in 2018-2019. Cape Dories were meant to be active, so she is up for sale!

If you pull up the specifications on the CDSOA website, you'll see that she had a v-berth, toilet/shower/sink area, then in the main salon, there is one settee and a double. Thus, she sleeps 5. Two burner alcohol stove with oven. She has a garboard drain in her keel.

She has been winter covered when not in the summer waters. For 2018, she received a new Universal M3-20B Diesel marine engine, new engine control panel, extension harness, exhaust elbow, propellor, and ZF 15 MIV v-drive. During the engine rebuild, she also had her Racor fuel filter rebuilt, a new stainless steel propellor shaft, and a new brass cutlass bearing installed. She also received a new Oak bowsprit that is reinforced with G-10 at the roller. Sails: main, Genoa, staysail.

Maintenance items: could stand to have kitchen sink plumbing replaced. Will need her dodger replaced (I had removed her old one to use as a template). Will need new varnish on the rub rail/toe rail and combings. Her Raymarine navigation unit at the helm still functions-it's just not state of the art anymore. She sat in gravel for one tide in 2019 so the bottom of her keel has scratches in a couple of spots that are on the to-do list before relaunching. The cushions were new, high quality firm foam in 2008. I'm in the process of refurbishing her compass because the seal leaked the fluid out-this will be completed before spring. She has 7 boat stands. Please contact me if you wish to see her. She's on the hard in Eliot, ME-waiting for her next adventure!
