The compartment below the galley sinks housing my newly installed fridge compressor had no ventilation. I knew I would have to resolve this issue. I looked at many vents but nothing readily available met the standard for a Cape Dory. While perusing the sale section of a popular cruising forum I finally found what I wanted. A gent was selling lots of new, unused, items he had accumulated while engaged in refurbishing his dream cruiser....he had lost his will to continue and was selling everything. What caught my eye was an aluminum louvered teak framed vent. It was just what I was looking for ....worthy of installation on a Cape Dory.
My fingers were freezing but the installation went off without a hitch.

Re: Refrigeration compressor compartment vent
Nice looking vent, Jim. With a pair of those, air-cooled refrigeration could be viable. -Jean

Re: Refrigeration compressor compartment vent
Thanks. There was no mention of the need to provide ventilation for the compressor in the instructions (my compressor is water cooled, no fan is mounted) but I felt it was best to allow for some movement of air in that space.Frenchy wrote:Nice looking vent, Jim.
