dyform rigging wire and stalock fittings

Re: check the cones
Mike, The mechanical fittings like sta-lock and Norseman work well. I have replaced the uppers on the 'Patricia Louise' with Norseman terminals and normal 1x19 wire. I have purchased Dyform wire and Norseman terminals to do the lowers and backstay this year (headstay is only 3 years old). The folks at Norseman sell special cones for use with Dyform wire. I don't know if Sta-lock sells special cones or not. The folks at Defender Industries where I bought the terminals and wire tell me that they have run tests and found that the wire actually breaks outside of the fitting which would indicate that a very high percentage of the bare wire strength has been achieved.
Here is what worries me. Some people tell me not to assemble with sealer. Others say use silicone sealer (I think that the manufacturer says to use silicone, but I don't have the instructions here at home). Since this is stainless steel and subject to crevice corrosion one would like to use sealer and check a fitting every few years, re-sealing if necessary. The thing that bothers me is that silicone sealer is an acid based product. Starting with an acid in contact with the stainless would be a nice way to invite crevice corrosion. As long as the seal were not broken then there shouldn't be a problem. Has anyone else tried a different sealant, say, polysulfide? I would like to hear of other peoples experiences... thoughts etc.
