Moving a Typhoon w/ a Rhodes trailer
I have access to a Rhodes 19 trailer - has anyone moved a Typhoon using one?

Re: Moving a Typhoon w/ a Rhodes trailer
I have used a Typhoon trailer to carry a Rhodes 18 with no issues. If the R19 is a full keel version it ought to work fine - especially if the hull supports are adjustable screwjacks. If it is a bunk-style it ought to work also, although it might be necessary to adjust the height of the bunks if that is possible. Cape Dory provided the following measurements in their Owners Manual for a Typhoon cradle: 68” between the fwd. and rear supports, 48” between the left and right side supports. These measurements are not critical however, and anything close to those will still work just fine. What is critical though is that the keel is fully supported as this is where the 2,000 lb. load rests - the bunks or screwjacks or fixed supports are just there to prevent the boat from tipping over...
Good luck!
PS In the event that the bunks (if not adjustable), are too high, it is possible to add support under the keel by using blocks or 2” x 8”s lashed in place also.

Re: Moving a Typhoon w/ a Rhodes trailer
Just checked stats for a Rhodes 19 - the fixed keel version draws 3’3”, which is 7-1/2” more than a Typhoon, so be prepared to lower the bunks or screwjacks and/or use substantial blocking under the keel...
