Don't forget to snap some photos while you work on that boat project, then share them here.

"Leoma" sails

Post by JD-MDR »

I'm learning to be a techy, watched videos of the asymetrical spinaker, I called it a genaker before. It came with a bag marked multi-purpose sail and it is referred to as the same on a sail plan that was posted on my boat. I think I will go out and try it again this weekend . I think I cut up the the tack line. I have something else that will work and now I know what some of the blocks are for on the deck. I also found a extra long sheet line. Must be for that. You can see in the photo I don't have the tack hooked up right. And who know what else. I've never used these before. I'll be working on it, Now I'm excited about fixing that foot block. since I read the conversation last week. The bushing came out easy and it is cracked . I will order a new one and new bolts. I guess I can weld the nut on the back like it was.

I googled multi purpose sail. That is a thing. I tried to use it again today and it went little better. All the videos show the luff being parellel with the forestay and some show a strap holding it close to the forestay. doesn't seem to work with mine. But those were asymetricals. I think they are a little different. Maybe this sail wasn't designed for this boat. Maybe I'm supposed to attach the tack down at the deck. anyway I'm getting it. I learned not to try single handling unless it is calm. Someday I will get a snuffer. Too many priorities . I wonder why my photos are always too big?
