I once helped a friend step his mast on a Typhoon Senior, and was neither easy nor fun. I can't imagine doing it on a CD 25D or CD 26. We used an A-frame set up with a block and tackle to raise the mast to a sufficient height to place it in the tabernacle. I felt the whole contraption -- which was solidly built with aluminum tubing, I believe -- was going to collapse at any time and the mast was going to come crashing down on my head. Setting up the roller furling system was a challenge as well. I too am very curious as to how you step and unstep your mast yourself.

Stepping and un-stepping a mast is more about proper planning than fancy set-ups, especially for a Typhoon up to CD25. I have (in the past... younger/stronger?) done this single-handed on both Typhoon and CD25. For me, the trick was having a boom vang with 4-to-1 purchase and a long tail. I connected one end to the bow and the other to the jib halyard. With the vang tail in hand I pushed up the mast and moved forward in the cockpit until I could begin using the vang to bring the mast up and forward.

I love this. Someone asks about comparing two 25' boats, and we hear back, "What about the 26?" "How about a 27?" "Try the 28." Two more posts and he'll be buying a 36!
