Bomar Hatch Frame

Post by hilbert »

I found significant scaring after removing the forward hatch.

Couldn't bring myself to reattach the hatch using the same method. Decided to epoxy in 1/2" G10 rods and tap 1/4"-20 thread. The idea of tapping G10 was from one of John Stone's posts

Only 17 more to go.

A rare sighting of the author. Almost ready for paint.

Hi John, McMaster-Carr is nothing if not efficient and their shipping fees are reasonable for UPS residential deliver.
It looks like you ordered Garolite G-11, which is also epoxy resin with fiberglass fabric reinforcement.
https://www.mcmaster.com/#8710k334/=1dstzxq

All the properties look very similar to G-10.
Tensile strength 37,000psi, impact strength 7.00 ft-lbs/in, hardeness: Rockwell M110 (extra hard). It should make an excellent backing plate.
Is that what you intend to use it for?
