Where can I find some wood to rebuild or splice rotten floor on 1981 Cape Dory 27 ? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Assuming your sole is plywood as most are
I'm afraid you will have to go to a supplier of marine plywood products,Boulter is one in the Ma.area or look for adds in boating mags.It isn't cheap.maybe you could scrounge some from local boatyards. Also try Defender Supply,I know they used to carry it a few years ago.

Check out WoodenBoat magazine, there's several vendors in there.

I bought a 4x8 sheet of 3/4" Teak and Holly plywood. The top veneer was teak/holly and the underlying plys were some other wood. The sheet cost $243 2 years ago. It finishes well and cuts easily. I have a 2x3 piece you can have in ME. JH

I don't know where you're located, but Hertitage Woodwrights in East Freetown, MA can get you anything that you'll need.

The existing sole is plywood with only a thin veneer of teak and holly. To top it off waterproof glue was not used. The top surface will delaminate if exposed to too much water and if not varnished perodically. I bought some teak plywood from a local lumberyard a few years ago to replace a bulkhead on my CD 30. It ran $80.00 a sheet. Teak veneer with fir base.

I plan to replace my cabin sole with a solid wood sole this year. I will probably use IPE (ironwood). It is hard, impervious to rot or insects, 1/3 the price of teak, and available locally. They are now using it for high dollar decking. Should run ~ $5.50 a board ft vice $14.50 for teak. I just finished laying it for a bathroom floor. I also plan to use it for swim ladder steps. BTW it does not float.
