Hi All,
Looking for help as my old 8hp Nissan died and I am looking for a replacement with the same horsepower. I have seen a lot of people recommend 6hp on other threads however I feel I need a little more power sailing in Buzzards Bay. Does anyone have any recommendations that will fit in the outboard lazzarette?

Re: CD25 Outboard Update
My CD25 came to me after 20 yrs. on Buzzards Bay. The previous owner replaced his first outboard with a second 6 hp outboard. I am not sure you need anything bigger but it is personal choice.

As a fellow CD25 owner, I know what you're talking about. I bought a brand new Tohatsu 6 4 stroke Sail Pro 25" with an oversized prop last year & I couldn't be happier. 1600 bucks but worth every penny. The built in altinator kept my battery topped off all summer! I got a lot out of her last summer with a lot of peace of mind. Believe me, spend the money.

I second the Tohatsu 6hp. I added the Tohatsu 5hp propane engine last year to my CD26 and it pushes it along just fine.

Re: CD25 Outboard Update
Replaced my Mercury 6 hp 4 stroke long shaft last year with a new Mercury 9.9 hp 4 stroke long shaft Command Thrust. Given our local river tide surges am very comfortable with the extra motor power, especially when carrying four adults. No discernible difference in sailing performance . Required small amount of fiberglass work to create enlargement in rear of outboard well liner.
