The winter is long here in the 'Bold North'.
I was just looking at marine chronometers. - I am sick of looking at things like marine chronometers. I want to scrape my knuckles in close quarters, fret about some complex project for which there are no available parts, listen to the clang of an old aluminum ladder and smell the smell of marine VOC's in the morning...
Spring fitting out season is only a month or so away. It will arrive none too soon.

Re: Fitting Out Season...NOW
Handsome CD, Paul.
Jenn and I are presently on the isle of Madeira off of Morocco, enjoying the very low off-season rates and fine weather (though it has been rainier than usual this year). Lots of yachts here but no CDs that we've seen. We have met a few US boats that dared the winter crossing and stopped here on their way to Europe
I'm recovering from a case of shingles. So far, no serious complications other than a skin infection after the shingles. Treatable and I should be fine. A word to the wise, particularly the older set: if you haven't had the shingles vaccine in the last 5 years, get it. Shingles ain't fun, is quite common and can be serious. The new vaccine, released last year, is reportedly better than the old one and can be given to folks as young as 50.
Anyhow, yes, we've been thinking more about outfitting lately, a sure sign of spring. Nothing new planned, except switching out our Morningstar solar controller for a model better suited to our AGM batteries and maybe (if we're VERY motivated) making a new dodger.
Our 31 is presently resting at Blue Hill, ME and we're anxious to see how she wintered. We'll be there the second week of June getting her ready. Stop by the yard if you're in the neighborhood (it's the storage yard nearest the town, right on Blue Hill Harbor.
Happy Spring (almost) to all of you
Jenn and Terry

Re: Fitting Out Season...NOW
With four nor'easters in three weeks, we're not getting much done on our boats here in NJ. As a matter of fact, it's been snowing here all day, but I feel your pain.
