Refinishing and Preserving the Original Cabin Sole

Fortunately the original cabin sole in my newly acquired TY Senior is in decent shape and I'd like to keep it that way. My understanding is that it is a veneer over plywood, so I imagine it wouldn't take much to damage it. Has anyone refinished their original cabin sole? if so, what product(s) did you use and why?
