"Leoma" weekend cruise

Post by JD-MDR »

Been cruising Santa Cruz island every weekend. There is several more islands to explore. Here are some photos of Potato Harbor. I spent Friday night at Fry Harbor. Forecast was for SE so I went to Potato Harbor (Photos), between Cavern Pt. and Conche Pt., which is protected . I guess its a real washing machine in the usual westerlies. I hope you can see on the chart. I've explored the North coast from Smugglers cove to Fry Harbor. Next is Lady and Little Lady which is close to Painted cave. Its supposed to be the largest Painted cave in the world. Then I go over the top and down the other side. I'm gonna order new sails this month. I'm getting the hang of taping and stitching. Compass is working great, So is the new windlass.

Great pictures. It looks like you are having a fine time. Glad to hear the compass is working better. There is no weather better than what you have in SOCAL. Where do you keep your boat?

We're at Ventura West Marina. I don't see many others out .Both of these holidays . I heard Californians don't go out once it dips below 70 degrees. Funny I grew up here and I never knew we were supposed to be like that. Maybe it's just newcomers that come here and get spoiled.

By the way , Steve is right , I miss my Tach. not being visible. I've lost RPM's down to 1700 from 2500. I try to run at 2000. I changed fuel filters. Didn't help' I will drain and clean the tank and lines. The diver is going to clean the bottom and inspect. I can't believe the bottom can be that bad. I just launched about Sept 1. I think I would feel it if something was in the prop.
