Builder's Marks

Post by Skylark »

Just curious about this marking: found after removing the wood trim inside a Cape Dory 36. Any ideas?

The initials of a quality assurance person?
Someone who wished to be remembered by posterity?

Yep, that's my guess too... Except, that the ports openings look like they were cut out using a chainsaw.

Well, that should get him remembered - "The guy with the Chainsaw at Cape Dory."

I wonder if he worked on my Pinto.

I believe that Will Keane, now of Edson, was the person who started and ran the QC Department at Cape Dory. My bet would be that that is either Will's mark or someone in his department. It looks like "WK" to me.
