Navionics or CMap?
Between just Navionics and CMap, does anyone here have a preference or dislike for one of these chart brands? If so, which version do you like or dislike?
Yes, paper charts will always have a home on our boat, but I was wondering about how the brands above compare.
Thanks.

Re: Navionics or CMap?
While I have not worked with CMap, I do like Navionics and use it frequently on my smart phone.

I too have only used Navionics on my iPhone and iPad, I have always been happy with it. I have never used CMap.

Re: Navionics or CMap?
My chartplotter is Navionics based so I loaded the Navionics app on my iPad and iPhone as a backup. I thought they'd be similar in presentation and function but they are quite different from one another. I use them with a Bad Elf GPS puck bluetoothed to my devices as backups offshore should my chartplotter ever decide to act up.

Jim, are you running Navionics Plus or Platinum on your GPS?

I'll have to check the chip to be certain but I have a Raymarine C-80 Chartplotter and the current chip was Navionics Gold back in 2008 when I installed it.Bob Ohler wrote:Jim, are you running Navionics Plus or Platinum on your GPS?

Re: Navionics or CMap?
After considering Navionics and C Map Max N+, I am now leaning towards the C Map, which is both Raster and Vector charts all in in one.

Re: Navionics or CMap?
Bob,
I've been using CMap, because I bought a small Standard Horizon chartplotter on sale (C190-i, I believe). I've been happy with it, although I don't update the card very often. I've never used Navionics, however. I run iNavX on my mobile devices as a backup.
