CD30 Water heater question

Post by Charlie »

The heating element on my CD30 burnt out, I am unable to locate one or find another water heater to replace it with. The label on the heater says: Atlantic Marine Stainless 12volt/AC Model T6E. The dimensions are: 15 1/2L x 12 1/2D x 12 1/2H. I suspect is a Raritan. All the elements I have purchased would not fit. I would appreciate any help or suggestions.

Charlie,

The 1983 CD30 manual lists it as a Raritan. There may be difference between model years.

If you believe it is then try:

Raritan Engineering Company
530 Orange Street
Millville, NJ 08332-4036
609/825-4900

The manual lists the element part number to be #WH1A for a Raritan Model 6E water heater. The Raritan Model 6E vs. Atlantic T6E is interesting. May have just be sold under the Altantic name.

We have a CD30 as well and installed an Atlantic T6E several years ago and is still going strong. Here is the info you need:
Atlantic Marine Stainless Corporation
7176 SW 47th Street, Miami,Fl. 33155 PH: 305/665-9900
( off my old owners papers )

Atlantic Marine Products
8790 Park Central Dr., Richmond,VA. 23227 PH:804/264-1169
( latest listing I have on file )

The 6 gallon unit utilizes a 1000 watt 9.1 amp chromalox extended life heating element. The thermostat opens at 148 degrees and closes at 135 degrees. Both plus or minus 5 degrees. Atlantic's part number for the 1000 watt 120 volt element is #1107. Requires a 10 amp circuit breaker. These are not Raritan units to my knowledge, separate companies. Hope this helps you, John

I have a 1984 CD30 Cutter. I bought is last year and it had a Raritan heater, which was not working at the time. I replaced the complete unit, available from most discount catalogs. Replacement was straight forward. The old heater just clears the opening. The new Raritan has a small plastic mounting ring around base, which the original did not. It took a little twisting, but the new heater does clear the opening.
