Florida Cape Dorys?

We would like to get in touch with other Cape Dory owners in Florida. We own a CD30 Ketch on the east coast, near Cape Canaveral.

Reside in florida about 40% of the year. No predictability to the 40%. Presently have a CD 25. I am located in Ft. Myers at the Caloosa Yacht & Racquet Club.

My Florida office number is 941-936-6629 (best number)

Do a lot of sailing on the Caloosahatche River and in the Gulf of Mexico around Sanibel Island.

Boat name is Kuhela - Hawaiian for "to leave rapidly upon the rising sea"

If you are in the area, track me down.

Ron

Here's one more... We sail "Bandolera II" in Biscayne Bay, in Miami. She's a gorgeous 1982 CD33, and can never get enough. i have been making many small improvements to the boat to make her more comfortable for cruising, and may want to share ideas, so we can stay in touch. Cheers.

Ron,

Barbara Anderson still active in the Cape Dory community in Jax? We bought our Typhoon Senior, Dauntless from her back in 85. Sailing on the St John's was fun. I miss it.

I have an unusual Cape Dory: the 24' lobster boat hull trawler. It has a 30hp Westerbeke diesel and a pilot house for steering. Below it has vee berths, head, and galley, all with standing headroom (I am 6'4"). The cockpit is quite large for a 24' boat. With almost a sailboat keel, i.e., CD 25, my boat has a large lapper jib and a small main (more a steadying sail), both roller furling. The workmanship of the boat is superb. I love it! It is docked at Palm Coast on the ICW, between St. Augustine and Daytona. My email is ronstyle@pine.circa.ufl.edu. Yes, I'm a professor at the University of Florida.
