The CD22D is a great boat, but when I was looking for a 22, I thought that an inboard engine in such a small boat really took up a lot of interior space.

I really could not see myself doing any maintenance like re-stuffing the stuffing box or anything else behind the engine either. so I went with a CD22.

I may not like the look of the outboard hanging off the stern but a stern thruster comes in mighty handy now and then.

Plus the outboard doesn't seem to stop all the compliments I get.

Just my $0.02 worth.

Gary
For some reason I thought you had the D model. Maybe it is someone else in California?
Any idea how many D hulls were made?

I consider myself one of the lucky few who own a 22D. It is a bit more maintenance but you have to smile every time you press the ignition button and that one cylinder diesel comes to life.

i knew there was a Gary with a 22d not to be confused with Gary with a 22. Maybe there is a Gary with a 22 typhoon senior.
Again just wondering how many 22 were diesels?

Based upon the numbering, my guess is about 50.

Sounds like you may have already found yours, but just in case: Don't know if you've seen this one, and I imagine it is literally the maximum one could possibly spend on a Cape Dory 22D, but I've seen it in person and it's just stunning. Lots of custom woodwork, impeccable condition. Amazing boat (price to match!).

Yes, I was in contact with the owner. I did not want to pay the price of a "restored boat". The one I hope to purchase is 10k cheaper.
