CD 30 bow Chocks

Quick question. Does any one know how big the bow line chocks are on a CD30k I'm looking at upgrading my stern chocks to match the bow as I'm finding them under sized.

Too small!

Mine will fit 3/4" line and sometimes need a binding line with larger mooring lines.

Let me know if you need measured dimensions.

Yes I'm finding them to small. its not about the size of line but the angle that the line is coming in on (because of the way the docks are setup). Right now it is doing almost a hard 90. I have chafe protection on the line so I'm not worried about that but the chock that has that line has started to warp. I have another safety line from the dock to the cleat but I don't like the prospect of side loading the cleat. So its not about the size of line but the side force that it is exposed to.

Already dealing with that. I can see the spacer blocks moving 1/8" as the line is heavily loaded, based on the cetol cracking.

The anticipated solution is to go to an aluminum riser and a skene chock when I get the cover off this spring. The teak riser lets the bolt wobble too much, and everything works against a good solution. Corrosion will be a concern... Still ambivalent.

When Raven was in her winter dock the stern line wanted to make a very hard turn as the length of the dock is no longer than the boat. This caused a very bad situation where the line left the stern chock. Rather than try to change out the chock for something that would only be marginally better, I just route the stern line straight out to the side, over the toe rail. To keep it from chafing I added a length of brass half oval. I now have a nice fair lead and no chafing or hard point. A bit of half oval is also a lot cheaper and easier to install than a new chock, Steve.

In some instances it is better to lead the dock line from the opposite side of the boat for a better lead. I know that is the case where Slainte docks. We dock Starboard side to the dock,but lead the Port aft dock line through the chock and to the dock. That might be something to consider
