Hey sailors,
If any of you have, or hear of, a good used YS pedestal, please let us know. After reading Jim Walsh's account of his pedistal replacement, it might be wise of us to plan for eventual replacement or our own YS pedestal. It appears sound now but, without removing it, we can't be sure. Best to get a spare if we need it.
Cheers!
Jenn and Terry

Jean posted link to a salvage yard which might have the pedestal you seek. It's the last posting in my replacement thread.

Re: Looking for a good used Yacht Specialties steering pedes
Hey Jim,
A belated thanks for the tip on a pedestal. We've yet to remove ours to see what's up underneath, put I did go over the base with a small hammer when I stripped it prior to painting. Seemed OK, but who knows? If I can find a good used one, I'll refinish it and have it standing by if we sense trouble.
Still warm over here in Nova Scotia, though due to get cooler in a few days. Only the slightest flurries. There are still 3 boats in the harbor out front (counting a small house boat). Much shrink wrap in the storage yards across the harbor. Winter is nigh.
Heard from Robinhood last week that our new engine came in. They should have it in and all connections made by the end of the month. Looking forward to easier maintenance and less worry on next summer's Maine cruise.
Any plans for a winter gathering? We should get stateside mid-January.
Thanks again, and a warm and happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
