Cape Dory 25 Triad Trailer

Post by Nucci68 »

I recently purchased a typhoon daysailer which came with an oversized CD25 trailer. Trailer is in great shape, but I would really prefer to have a typhoon trailer for hopes of it fitting in my garage. If anyone is interested in a CD25 trailer, make me an offer. The Trailer has surge brakes, and Extendable tung for ramp launching.

Where are you located? I might be interested in trading up to a larger trailer - presently have my Typhoon on a trailer with adjustable stands (like yours), but would like to also be able to transport a larger Albert design. Feel free to email me @ Bocaturabank@yahoo.com for any particulars, I am in SC but frequently travel the East Coast Maine to Florida...

I don't think that is a CD25 trailer. The CD25 is about 4000 lbs and the Triad for it is 1600 lbs. Mine has two 3500lb axles to support that weight.

I was reluctant to say anything initially but I think I may agree with "Irak". The Triad Trailer in the initial photo post looks too small for a Cape Dory 25.

This is a photo of the Triad Trailer for a Cape Dory 25 from the Triad Trailer website:

A trailer for a Cape Dory Typhoon Weekender or Daysailer is (would be) very popular. Someone is always looking for a quality trailer for the Ty Weekender.
Fair winds,

The chassis of your trailer looks to be the size of my Triad Typhoon trailer, but I have only four poppets and you have six. Interesting...

I guess i may have mistaken the previous owners comments of it being a cd25, and could have been a cd22. Its hard to tell from my photo, but the boat has 6"+ of 2x10s under the keel in order to raise it high enough to clear the keel guides, and for the Jack stand height.

My new thought is to simple remove those board, remove the keel guides and cut down the Jack stand posts. Any reason I should do something like that? I don't plan to ever ramp launch, but I could lower the guides similar to rlw's trailer.
