Re: Dr Shrink Heat Tool
This is what you can accomplish with this tool.
Shrink wrap forms a tight, protective cover mast up or down. Under the white wrap, it is a joy to work on interior deck projects like cockpit varnishing as it is dry and warmer then the the outside air when the sun shines.
My brother's CD33, (on the left - he reuses his shrink wrap year to year) and my freshly shrunk wrapped CD36.
With new shrink-wrap, tape and support strapping it costs me to do my 36 less then $120.00 every year. I recycle the shrink wrap in the Spring. I purchased a new professional version of this tool hence my old tool is for sale. The new tool with extension; $900.00.

I am not generally claustrophobic. I was used to crawling around tiny passageways inside of ship wrecks at 130 ft to 200+ ft. However, from your photo, it sure does LOOK like it would be claustrophobic inside. How much air circulation do you get Does natural light pass through the wrap I assume so since you say it is warmer than outside. Don't tell your brother but your wrap looks a lot cleaner/neater than his.

Re: Dr Shrink Heat Tool
Not to worry. I won't tell him though he is aware of it. Both methods work fine. I just think it is more trouble to carefully remove the cover. Store it and then re-fit and re-tape. I tried it once but what with the CD 36 bowsprit, stay sail stay and all that it just seemed harder to do. I recycle it and they make plastic decking out of it or outdoor furniture or some such thing so I don't feel too guilty.
As for ventilation. You need plenty of that so it is not stuffy nor is it claustrophobic beneath. We need plenty of pitch for the snow load so you can stand upright in the cockpit with out a problem. We have to take the boom off because of our marina's method of take out so I put the ridge about 4 feet above that. You can walk all the way forward although a bit bent over underneath. A lot more light at the correct color then there is under water, even in clear Lake Superior at 200 feet. (or so I am told!)
It is nice and dry inside and with the rain and snow pelting down outside; oh the luxury of it!

Wow, that is a lot of room. The earlier photos did not make it appear so roomy. Thanks for the additional photos.
