Ocean Engineering

I am looking for a stern pulpit rail for my CD25. The "Where to Look" page on this site list Ocean Engineering as a supplier of rails for CDs. I sent them an e-mail requesting information but got no response. I then called the phone number listed and it appears to be out of sevice. Does anyone know the status of Ocean Engineering?
Thanks for any info you might have.
By the way...this is a great sailing community on this site. I'm new to sailing and have found the information on this site to be invaluable.

I sent them an e-mail about 9 months ago about the same thing, a pushpit for our CD25. They responded very promply with a quote. If I remember it was around $325. I did not order it yet as I have not decided if I want to add the rail and lifelines .

Thanks for the info Mike. I'll try them again. Maybe my e-mail drifted into cyber-space. From the prices I have been quoted, $325 sounds reasonable.

Re: Power Outages due to heavy snow a possibility

Steve,

When did you call or e-mail Ocean Engineering? If it was today, 2/6, much of the northeast, particularly areas in PA and CT are still without power and phone service due to the heavy wet snow which brought down utility lines. Try again tomorrow.

I ordered a stern rail and stanchions from Ocean Engineering for my CD25 last September, 2000 and was told it would take 4 to 6 weeks. As of 2/8/01 I have not received the order, nor have they been returning any of my recent phone calls. The order was initially delayed because their welder suffered an injury. As of January, I was told the order was just a week from being completed. No word since. I have begun to consider cancelling the order. Currently, I'm searching for a local (Long Island, NY) fabricator. Ocean Engineering's parent company is the Bellmore-Johnson Co., you can try reach them at 800-575-2171, however, based upon my experience so far, I find it difficult to recommend them.

Ocean Engineering recently contacted me. They have had a significant production backlog. They hope to complete my order very soon.
