CD 26 Jib Sheet

Post by dgsail »

Does anyone have a picture of how the jib sheet lines should be run from bow, past the rigging, and into the deck pulley?

This is from the CD 26 brochure on our web site. I just used an app. and traced the jib sheet lead with a highlighter so it would stand out.
You have a track mounted on your side deck so the sheets would be lead inside of your shrouds and upper stay.

Also looks like a separate genoa track on the rail for sheeting something bigger than your working jib, in which case the sheet would run outside the shrouds. Do you know the size of your headsail?

Thanks for the interesting photo.

So if I am running my jib line from the sail clew to the track mid deck are the jib lines inside or outside the lifelines? Are the jib lines inside or outside the upper and lower shrouds?

Debbie, on my former CD26.....
I think I remember running the sheet inside of the forward lower shroud, then running it between the upper and forward lower to the outside before leading it to the block. This was for a working jib. It lined up better than running fully on the outside or fully inside.

Dana,
Did you run the lines inside or outside of the life lines?

GM to all

The 25D is very similar to your 26. On the 25D I lead the jib sheet outside the forward lower, and then inside the uppers and aft lowers. Otherwise, in any situation when Rhapsody is off the wind or even a beam reach, the forwarded lowers interfered with the angle of the sheets, and thus were not only wearing the sheets, but also (to some extent) deflecting the lower shroud.

I hope that makes sense? And as for the genoa, the sheet goes outside all standing rigging.
