Guess what this is.

Guess what the object is leaning up against the Corvette. If you look in the background you'll notice a CD25 so this photo actually has some Cape Dory relevance, tenuous perhaps, but relevance nonetheless.

Something you are glad not to have swimming around when you in a dinghy.

Large shark, tail fin, thrasher, maybe.

I don't really know but the thing must have been huge, Steve.

Steve got it! It's the tail of a Thresher shark. The tail is nearly as long as the body on these fish. I've eaten Thresher shark and it is better than swordfish. A friend was careless when trying to boat one a few years back and was whipped by the tail. It left quite a bruise which lasted for weeks.

The real questions surround the fact that it is now leaning on your Vette. Just where and how does one end up in possession of such a fin?

Have you been out harpooning?

Nice one, Steve.
