South East CD fleet?

Post by fishsail »

Are there any CD sailors in the SE Florida region? Looking for a cruisers group around Ft. Pierce, PSL or Stuart area.

Fishsail:

I'm in Coconut Grove, Fl. about 130 miles from Fort Pierce. Not much help but from what I have learned there are no CDSOA fleets in South Florida. The closest is probably the Central Gulf Fleet in the Panhandle region of Fl.

We do have several (perhaps not many) Cape Dory sailboats in South Florida. I know of at least four (4) at the local sailing club's mooring - a CD 40, a CD 300 motorsailor, a Ty and, of course, by beloved Cape Dory 25D (S/V Bali Ha'i). Zeida also has S/V Bandolera II (a CD 33) at a local marina.
Fair winds,

Roberto

Fishsail,

There are 20 active CDSOA members in Florida, more than enough to start a fleet. The Association has long seen the need for a Florida Fleet, but it will take a few willing members to make it happen. I would suggest reading the article "How to start a fleet" in the Masthead and then contacting us. We will provide all the help and support you need to help get things underway.
