Robinhood Marine Center is sold

Post by DAVIDPERRY »

As many of you know, Andy Vavolotis owned Robinhood Marine Center and Spartan Marine. This week he sold both, and the yard is now Derecktor Robinhood. Please view the press release below:

All of us at Derecktor Robinhood look forward to welcoming all Cape Dory owners and to offer continuing support wherever we can. We will continue our yacht brokerage that always includes many Cape Dory and Robinhood vessels, too!

Dave,

Good luck in your new chapter! Life only moves in one direction, and it's forward. Good luck to Andy in his well-deserved retirement.

What is the status of Spartan? There was no mention that I could find in the press release...

Spartan Marine will continue to be a part of Derecktor / Robinhood. Maybe soon there will be an on line ordering process, too. The Cape Dory sailboat molds are another matter, as they were not part of the acquisition. Andy will retain his ownership of them.

I was at Robinhood Marine Center and Spartan Marine one time in August 2007. Sadly, my only visit. I fell in love with the place, the environment, the staff, everything. When (not if  ) I win the Florida Lottery RMC will be my summer home.

I just hope the new guys keep her the same as Andy V. did. It was (is :!: ) a gem.
Fair winds,

Hi Joe, yes, I will continue to be the yacht broker on staff. As all of the new owners and managers are sailors, I think they will be happy with my performance, and not expect me to broker more Donzi's and Sea Rays! If they do ---- well, time to go sailing!

John,
The CD 31 was transformed into the CD 32 so the mold was either eliminated or modified. The CD 330 used the same mold as the CD 33, and that was sold to Nauset Marine in 1994 at the second mold auction. They may still have it or have eliminated it by now.
