I got the notice too that the site contains malware. Prudence dictates you stay away.

I agree that the duration of documentation needed to be lengthened but I for one will miss the, deep-in-the-winter renewal notice; considering it a sure sign of Spring. Then 6 weeks or so later, what joy to get the documentation in the mail! That is when I know the start of the Fine Season of sailing is not far. I also have this ceiling beam in my office where the expired certificates are pinned. Starting to run out of room up there so there is that. Just hope that not too many West Virginians lose their jobs as part of the extension but I supposed that is going to happen.

I haven't got the notice to redocument yet. Looking every day as it is still deep winter.

Sorry about the virus/malware scare, folks. I have received the Blue Water Sailing newsletter/blog for several years and never had a issue. I use a Mac. I was just trying to pass on what I thought was some good news to those who have a documented Cape Dory. Hope nobody got infected.

We sent in our doc. renewal two weeks ago and, to our pleasant surprise, received the new doc. yesterday!

Last month, I sent in my soon-to-expire passport and received the new one in one week! Yes, one measly week!

Having been a pubic servant for 33 years, I was always amazed at how much faster (or slower) things could happen in an election year. Am I being too cynical and jaded to think that could be the case with these two docs?

Anyhow, I don't mind giving the USCG or Homeland security money. They both do good work.

Cheers!

FWIW the FAA allows reregistration of an airplane online for $5 and it's on their database the next day. Oh, and they accept credit cards and its only required every three years.
