Transom Replica

Don't forget to snap some photos while you work on that boat project, then share them here.

Transom Replica

Post by Jeff and Sarah »

I built this a little over 4 years ago to hang in my first son's nursery over the crib. I finally got around to hanging it again after our most recent move- this time it is hanging over my second son's crib. It roughly follows the shape of our Cape Dory's transom but I didn't bother making it precise. It was a fun project and was relatively easy. The paint job is kind of lousy as I hadn't quite perfected the technique at the time but it is totally acceptable for a nursery room! What is hard to see is the reverse rake of the transom- The top protrudes from the wall about 4 inches at the sides and maybe 5.5 inches in the center and the bottom protrudes about an inch. I cut the letters on my wife's vinyl cutting machine.
