Typhoon Racing Events 2016

Post by Ned Crockett »

Rappahannock River Yacht Club located on the lower Chesapeake Bay in Irvington, Virginia, will again be hosting numerous racing opportunities for Typhoon sailors. The first major event will be the Typhoon Nationals to be held June 3 - 5, 2016. This is an exciting and well-run event that has attracted Typhoon sailors far and wide. The folks at RRYC are most helpful with arranging local accommodations and boat launch/storage. Historically, close to thirty Typhoons have competed in two racing classes designed for those with little or no racing experience to the experienced racers. Parties, meals, and awards are an important part of this fun but competitive racing event.

The second major racing event is the Hospice Turkey Shoot to be held Sept. 30 - Oct 2, involving over one hundred older sailboats and a large Typhoon fleet. More about the Turkey Shoot in later posts.

To find out more information about these racing events visit the RRYC webpage rryc.org, move the cursor to SAILING, at the drop down visit the Typhoon blog pages.
You may also email Tom Watkins, Typhoon Fleet Commander, tom@tmwatkins.com or Danielle Kuper, Event Captain, sistikuper@comcast.net or contact me, Ned Crockett, nedshirleyc@verizon.net NOTE: our webpage is currently being updated and may be down for a couple of days. Hope to hear from you.
