Want to buy a CD 27, 28 or 30

Post by jgibbons86 »

Hi everyone,
I'm primarily looking for a CD 28 but would consider a 27 or a 30. Since I live in SW Florida I would consider anything in Florida and surrounding states.
Thanks,
Jim

Jim, check out Yacht World this morning. A CD 40 is for sale at a very reasonable price it seems.

Don't discount the CD 31, a very different design from the 30. There are 80-something of them out there. It will cost more than the 30, though, but is worth it.

I have to agree with Jenn and Terry :D
I have seen many beautiful Cape Dorys listed here for sale in the last year so I advise you check this forum daily. The real bargains are snapped up fast. I don't rate bargains wholly on price. The quality of the vessel offered is the true measurement in my opinion.

I paid $28,000 for Gabbiano in 2009 and wound up putting more than $20,000 in repairs to the deck, new Beta engine, new bottom, rewiring, interior cushions, inverter/charger, auto-pilot, new sails, etc., etc., etc. Would I buy a bargain and have no idea what I will spend, or buy a boat ready to take me anywhere? Would I spend all my time working on a boat considering my age, health, finances or spent my time sailing? I chose to buy Gabbiano knowing all the problems and also knowing I would have the time to sail “anywhere” in the world. Would I do it again? The answer is NO! Would I recommend someone else to do the same thing? I don’t know.
