Autohelm 4000 repair

Post by Bill Coogan »

I have two problems with my Autohelm 4000. First, the wheel steering hesitates to disengage. Second, a fairly large piece of hardware is floating around the inside of the control unit. I've taken the unit apart and cannot see where the piece detached itself.

Anybody have an idea about where or whether these units can be repaired?

Try Raymarine for your repair. Their phone number is 1 800 539 5539
(or was when I had my ST2000 repaired)and are out of Nashua, NH.

They are the authorized repair center for Autohelms and their work is
excellent. They also includes a 90 Day Warranty on their work.

Hope this helps

Bill, we replaced our autopilot, and have the remains of our Autohelm 4000 sitting in the garage. The nylon gears on the motor are chewed up, and the cord is cut off the end of the motor, but all the other bits are still functional. The control head and the remote were both working when we removed it. If you could use it, let me know, and I'll pack it up and send it all to you.

Tom

If you have no takers on the spare parts, I am looking for a motor and anything you might have left over.

I believe the 2000 can work as 4000.

Thanks, Gabbiano. My boat takes the wheel version, though.

I think the control units are the same.
