http://www.defender.com/product3.jsp?pa ... 6&id=88159 This WIchard emergency boarding ladder worked well enough for me to use from the side of my CD 27. Yes its true, I acutally was able to climb aboard using this ladder and I am one overweight out of shape not very athletic sailor. It hangs off the safety lines and you can trail the cord that opens it so it is reachable from the water. I do not think it would work on the transom. It was a bit hard to get it but I actually was able to do it. I have photographic proof but it is too humiliating a shot to post.

It can not be as humiliating as having your body brought to shore in a bag. Thanks for the info. This is something that should be on the mind of every sailor, not just those that single hand.
