Rudder on CD TySr

Does anybody have information about the construction of the rudder on a Cape Dory Typhoon Senior? The rudder seems to slip on the pintel. Is that possible? I'll put it on a trailer to inspect but would first like to have some insight into what to look for. The only information I have is figure 5.1 from the owners manual.

I have a CD 22 similar hull. Not sure what you mean by pintle...I assumed pintles erre for transom mounted rudders..are you referring to the shoe at the bottom of keel?

And when you say "slip" can you be a bit more precise in what is slipping, where and amount of slippage?

Thanks for the reply. I'm guilty of posting a question and then not following up. I've since solved the problem and offer the following comments for others: The fundamental problem was that the tiller was off center by a good bit. When under sail, it felt like the rudder may even fall off. Oddly enough, the problem appeared on one tack and not the other. After reviewing the owners manual I concluded that the problem had to be with the rudder shaft. It was built in such a way that I wasn't concerned about the shaft or rudder but the attachments at the top or bottom. After putting the boat on a trailer, I concluded that the heel fitting on the bottom was fine. That meant that the problem had to be with the tiller cap. That turned out to be the case. According to the manual, the tiller connection to the rudder post is "keyed" and loosening/removing the tiller from the rudder shaft should a machined keyway. See page 20 - Section 3.2 Steering. It states in part " both the rudder post and tiller cap have machined keyways..." Read paragraph 3. Although the key should be accessible from the top of the rudder post, my tiller cap was too corroded to be removed. Nevertheless, I was able to rig a gadget to hold the rudder in a center position while gradually realigning the tiller to the rudder post. Hope this helps others.
