Last May, my son Conrad found a Typhoon trailer for sale pretty cheap in Portland Maine, close to our place in Harpswell. Of course, he had to go looking for a cheap Typhoon, too, and he found one in Boston! We agreed not to buy them we don't need more boats!), and he let me share the link to the board, but by the next day we both could not stand it, so I deleted those links and started the process of buying another Cape Dory.
My wife, Jennifer, and daughter, Mirelle, were in Maine, so they drove down and bought the trailer. The next weekend, Mirelle was traveling to Boston for her graduate work, so they took our "marine surveying kit" (moisture meter and plastic hammers...) down and took a look. It turned out to be a real diamond in the rough, sitting for 25 or 20 years under the basketball goal on blocks and stands...solid decks and hulls, no moisture , etc...

Our window of retrieval was July 2nd, but all hopes of having a yard transfer it from the stands to the trailer were dashed by the holiday, and the exorbitant costs! So we took off to try the transfer ourselves. There were some pretty tense moments, and if you look at the picture, if I were to do it again, I'd get a better jack!

We don't really need a trailer for much other than to back it down the Harpswell Town Landing for launch, which is good, because the drive home was harrowing as the boat and trailer bounced what seemed like feet over the potholes!
