Somehow I accidentally moved this old message to the top. Please disregard this and look at the City Island Cape Dory Rally for this year, 2016! Thanks.

The Cape Dory Rally at City Island Yacht Club, City Island NY, is happening July 18-19, 2015! The planners are still planning, but the fun will include dinner, etc, plenty of yarns and information being exchanged, and probably a low-stress race or two on Saturday. Plus, Manhattan is accessible by public transportation for those who want to visit the Big Apple. More details as they develop.

Please accept our apologies for the lateness of this email. We had massive glitches in the mailing list, and were only able to resolve it as of last evening.

You may have been following the posting on the capedory.org site about the upcoming Cape Dory Rally, July 19th & 19 at City Island Yacht Club, City Island, NY. We'd love to have you attend.

At this point, because of the delay, we'd like to impose upon you to email your intention to attend by Saturday, July 11th, so that we can get a count. If we don't get 10-15 boats, we should put it off until next year and try again. Please email rwlewis [at] optonline [dot] net asap if you intend to come.

Here's what's planned:

Friday, July 17th:
• sail-in Friday evening to City Island YC (40 deg 50.441'N, 75 deg 47.284'W). Launch monitors Ch. 72; phone the office (718) 885-2487 to reserve a mooring. Mooring rental is $40/night.

• Dinner available Friday at the CIYC Pub, or at any of the fine restaurants on City Island.

• Let's get together at the Pub after dinner for some serious Cape Dory talk, and some serious refreshments!

Saturday, July 18:
• Fun race for Cape Dory's only - no spinnakers.

• For those not interested in racing, a visit to the City Island Nautical Museum is always a good choice http://www.cityislandmuseum.org/

• Post-race dinner and party at CIYC (Would anyone like to show slides of a cruise?)

Sunday, July 19:
• Sail-away after fond goodbyes, photos, exchanges of email addresses, etc.

The first City Island NY Cape Dory Rally on July 18-19 was small, but very high quality and great fun! Thanks to Cathy, Bruce, and Charlie for a great time. We had a delicious dinner Friday night, then a pretty darn perfect daysail on Saturday. We circumnavigated historic Hart Island, sailed by Execution Rock and Stepping Stones lighthouses, all to the tune of constant gabbing about the technical and romantic qualities of our beautiful Cape Dory yachts.

A good time was had by all, and I, for one, am looking forward to a bigger and better Rally next year about the same time!

Looking forward to meeting you all in 2016! Dates and other info will be available in January.
