Does anyone know the maximum size prop diameter that will fit within the prop aperture between the hull and rudder? I need to know the dimension of that aperture to order a replacement prop. Boats in the water so I can't easily measure it.
Thanks

Re: CD30 prop
Paul,
The prop on my 1977 CD30 ketch with the 12 hp Yanmar is 12" diameter by 9" pitch and is left hand. The aperture is somewhat larger but I would guess that a larger diameter prop is not safe. You must maintain clearance even when the rudder is hard over. If you think that you need a "bigger" prop, consider a higher pitch or a three bladed prop.

Re: CD30 prop
You should have a prop expert size your prop so that you are not overloading your engine. Its not just the size of the aperture that's important. The prop diameter and pitch must be sized to the engine as well as the boat.

Joe,
My 30 footer has what I have assumed is the original prop, a Michigan 12x9 LH 2-blade prop.
