I presently have the Whale Gusher 8 manual pump setup and am considering adding an automatic. Am curious how others have done this with the deep bilge. I seem to recall mention of a "switch on a stick" which can be readily accessed for servicing. What solutions are out there?

Re: CD 27 auto bilge pump
My 27 has a partition that separates the deep bilge from thew shallow bilge area (near the grounding plate bolts). The froward part of the boat seems to drain into the shallow bilge where there's an electric automatic pump. There's also a manual pump with a pick-up hose with strainer in the deep bilge. The electric pump gets any water from the front, but the deep bilge would have to fill up and overflow into the shallow area to activate the automatic pump with a leak aft. You might also consider a non-submersed type pump with a pick-up hose. But that type is more expensive, lower flow, and damaged by dry running.
