cabin sole1982 CD 30

Post by jack Kelley »

Have noticed some delamination adjacent to the cabin sole. appears to be a veneer-managed to tuck some epoxy beneath to secure-wondering if the sole and adjacent area is teak veneer and how to repair if this continues and where would this material be obtained?

Thanks,

Jack Kelley

I replace mine not too long ago. I used 1/8" teak veneer. I got it from a place in Annapolis.

I had similar problem a few years ago on my 1982 CD30 #248.
I ended up replacing sole and a small section of the side panel starboard side.
The culprit is the drain hose from the head sink. After removing sole I discovered that it was way to long and retained its memory of curling up and did so dumping grey water on backside and underside of sole and side panel. It lies unattached to anything between the bilge pan and the actual bilge, which allowed it to curl.
Solution: hose enters forward end of bilge from sink under clean out grate in head sole. Cut off 2-3' and attach hose to bilge pan allowing it to still enter forward bilge just aft of clean out. Never to curl again.
Hope that helps.
Cheers, Ben

Ben: Thank you for your response-I have not been using the head sink so I don't think that was my problem-I think I was dealing with moisture getting beneath the finish which I have sanded and applied a new coat of finish with acceptable results.
